BRANDT driver leaves for the third consecutive weekend competing and, once again, goes to the race without practice or qualify.
Exactly seven days after debuting in the Porsche XP Private Cup season on well-known terrain, equaling the category’s historic pole position record and leadership in all laps to win, BRANDT driver Miguel Paludo goes into the final chapter of his trilogy on mixed circuits of the NASCAR Xfinity Series in Mid-Ohio. Like what happened in the first race with JR Motorsports in Daytona, the driver will accelerate the Chevrolet Camaro #8 for the first time on a track where he has never ridden in the presentation laps.
This will be Paludo’s third consecutive weekend racing, as before the Porsche Cup journey at Velocitta he was one of the highlights of the first race in NASCAR history at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
Paludo will start 29th on Saturday and has already shown in 2021 that recovery races are not a problem for him in NASCAR. At Daytona, starting farther back, he drove the #8 Camaro to fourth place when he had a flat tire, missed the leader’s lap and again climbed up until he was flagged in seventh. In COTA he started from 15th and advanced to fourth place, until he was forced to withdraw from the race with a break in the transmission shaft in the middle of the race.
In Mid-Ohio, NASCAR will once again adopt a pit-stop-specific rules package, released in 2020 to involve fewer people in tire-changing and refueling operations. There will be a minimum time of stops, neutralization of the pack, different passes through the pits to change tires and refueling, and only five professionals will be able to work on the cars. The operation will even involve crew chief Taylor Moyer serving Camaro #8.
The week started intensely at JR Motorsports headquarters. In addition to the meetings with the team to plan the stage, Paludo followed the pit-stop training in loco within the rules of the Mid-Ohio stage.
The stage is scheduled for 75 laps (or 169.4 miles) and is scheduled to start at 2 pm this Saturday (Brasilia time). Fox Sports channels show the race live for all of Brazil.
What he said:
“Our car was very fast in Daytona and COTA and I am very motivated to represent BRANDT again, this time in Mid-Ohio. The work of everyone at JR Motorsports has been impeccable since the beginning of the year and I hope that together we achieve another positive result.”
